Our Story

We started with red doors. Who knows why? Maybe to symbolize the blood of Christ and the covering He provides. Or maybe it was just to represent the warm, hearty greeting that one would receive upon entering the sanctuary. But probably, it was because those were the colors when we moved in.

Whatever the reason, New Home Ministries- LaPlace opened its doors on August 8, 1999 and Pastor Steve Allen was consecrated as Pastor. Nine years later and red doors long gone, the name has changed but the Christ-centered ministry with a swelling heart for people remains.

From its conception, Destiny Christian Center burst on the scene as a relevant ministry with a transparent message. With one service on Sunday and a mid-week service on Wednesday, the church quickly became one of the fastest growing churches in the area.  To meet the needs of the growing ministry a Sunday Night Live service at was launched in 2000 and another morning service was established in the spring of 2001.

As the church grew, so did the faith and needs of the ministry. One night in 2003, during a mid-week service, Pastor Steve heard God tell him that the neighboring bank building was soon going to become property of the ministry. As Pastor Steve declared it over the pulpit to the congregation, a seed of faith was planted.

A mere three months later, the bank had officially closed and bids to purchase were being placed. Just like He promised, the bank building became the church’s newest piece of property and was transformed from a quaint neighborhood bank into a first rate administrative office and nursery facility. The borders continued to expand to meet the needs of the growing church. In 2005, the main sanctuary was completely renovated and extra seating was added in the “overflow room”.

Destiny Christian Center has dedicated its purpose to meeting the needs of people and transforming the creations of God into the children of God. Through relevant teaching and hearts to serve, DCC is devoted to helping everyone passionately pursue purpose and discover the destiny that God has for our lives.
